The European Union presidency for the next half of the year from January till July will be held by Malta, a country representing only 0.08 percent of the EU population.
The Maltese government will be represented in our conference by Joe Mizzi. He is a Member of Parliament since 1987. He became Maltese Minister for Transport and Infrastructure in March 2013. We are very pleased that Mr. Mizzi accepted our invitation and will have a welcome speech at the moderated Forum on March 21. His speech will be focused on the Maltese presidency priorities in transport and innovation (Shift2Rail) in the railway sector and on the 4th Railway Package and interoperability. He will be focused also on the role of small EU member states on the development of EU transport policy, specifically the progress of standardization and interoperability. Mr. Mizzi will present also a key note speech on 22 March.
